

Gail Erwin, Playwright and Songwriter |
Gail Erwin is a playwright/songwriter with thirty plays and hundreds of songs to her credit.
She was Playwright-in-Residence of the Omaha Theater Company for Young People (formerly the Emmy Gifford Children’s Theater) in Omaha, Nebraska from 1981-1996. During that time, more than a dozen of her plays were produced at this professional theater, with several productions touring across the country.
While living in Nebraska, Gail was a Master Teacher with the Nebraska Arts Council, doing residencies in playwriting featuring the underground railroad, the orphan trains, and Indian boarding schools, with fourth graders throughout the state. She was also appointed to serve on the Metropolitan Arts Council of Omaha, as well as the Nebraska Arts Council.
Gail’s musicals focused on adult themes played at several theaters throughout the Omaha area, where WHITE WOMAN’S BLUES ran for six months.
Since relocating to California, Gail’s plays have been produced at various California theaters, including the Coastal Repertory Theatre in Half Moon Bay.
A recent collaberation with noted guitarist and songwriter Edward Dee, LAZARUS, was produced at the Community United Methodist Church in Half Moon Bay in April, 2005. Several of Gail’s Christmas pageants for child performers have been produced there.
