Lazarus

Cast: 12M, 8F, 2B, 1G

Synopsis: This large cast play, based on the Gospel of John, recounts the miracles of the Lame Man, the Blind Man, and the story of the Woman of Samaria, ending with the greatest miracle of all: calling Lazarus from the Tomb. Jesus and some of His Disciples travel from the banks of the Jordan to Jerusalem and Bethany, the home of His dear friends, Mary, Martha and Lazarus. The people who meet Him are by turns transformed and skeptical. The Elders who watch His progress are jealous and treacherous, and in the end, when Jesus and the Disciples leave to enter Jerusalem for the last time, Lazarus is faced with the choice we all have: who will follow Jesus?

Running time: one hour forty-five minutes

Music: Scored for guitar, bass, percussion and piano. CD available.

Performance history: LAZARUS was produced in March of 2005 at Community United Methodist Church in Half Moon Bay, CA.
