The Little Matchgirl

Synopsis: This version of Hans Christian Andersen's timeless classic is set at the time of the 1917 Russian Revolution. The story of the little match girl and the restless times of this period fit together wonderfully and flesh out the sad tale of the girl forced to sell matches to keep from starving. The video has been distributed by Embassy Home Entertainment.

Running time: one hour

Performance history: THE LITTLE MATCHGIRL premiered at the Emmy Gifford Children's Theater in Omaha in November, 1981.
